چکیده
In concrete structures such as road facilities, harbor facilities, sediment control dams, and others, impact loads sometimes act directly on members. Load bearing capacity, toughness and displacement recovery properties are important, and should be evaluated appropriately. Recently, to prevent the spalling of concrete portions is also one of the important requirements for concrete structures. There are many papers [1-5] discussed the impact resistance of concrete members by using smaller specimens. Simplest impact test is "repeated impact drop-weight test [6]". In this test, the number of blows necessary to cause prescribed levels of distress in the test specimen is the main parameter, and the drop-height is kept constant. Relative impact resistance of different materials can be evaluated by this testing method. However, this testing method cannot be applied to the evaluation of relative impact resistance of different structural types. Using a buffer layer is effective method to improve the impact resistance. For instance, there are three requirements of buffer layers as follows;

Simulation of Masonry Beams Retrofitted with Engineered Cementitious Composites
A thin layer of ductile fiber-reinforced mortar material referred to as Engineered Cementitious Composites, or ECC has been experimentally investigated as a seismic retrofit for unreinforced masonry infill walls in non-ductile reinforced concrete frames. Compression tests of masonry prisms retrofitted with 13mm of ECC were conducted representing the compression strut of a masonry infill under i...

Amorphous micro-steel (AMS) fibre made by cooling of liquid pig iron is flexible, light and durable to corrosion, then to be compatible with high flowable and disperable states of mixing as well as high ductile post-cracked performances to apply in fibre-reinforced cementitious composites. In the current research, AMS fibre-reinforced cementitious composites based on cement and alkali-activated...
متن کاملFlexural Behavior of Cementitious Composites Reinforced by Synthetic Fibers
The application of fibers to reinforce cementitious materials is a well-known subject. At first, asbestos fibers are used in industrial process to produce fiber reinforced cement sheets. Thereafter, various types of synthetic fibers are produced and used as asbestos substitutes. The aim of the present work is to evaluate the effect of synthetic fibers on the flexural behavior of cementitious co...

One of the key issues associated with using of composites in various applications is their tensile behavior. The tensile behavior of a composite material is strongly influenced by the properties of its constituents and their distribution. This paper focuses on gaining some insights into the tensile process of pure and hybrid woven composite reinforced with brittle and ductile yarns. For this pu...
متن کاملMonotonic and fatigue performance in bending of fiber-reinforced engineered cementitious composite in overlay system
This paper presents an experimental study and theoretical analyses on the monotonic and fatigue performance in bending of a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber-reinforced engineered cementitious composite (ECC) overlay system. The influence of the interfacial characteristics between overlay and old concrete substrate on the overall bending performance is investigated. The experimental results show th...
